We traveled quickly from Capitol Reef to catch sunset at Arches National
Park.
All of southern Utah is spectacular but scenery from Arches made it onto
the Utah licence plate. Arches is second only to Bryce in my estimation.
It has the largest collection of natural arches and bridges, but this is
not all. There are tons of other interesting scenic formations and a
marvelous landscape. Canyonlands National Park is also right next door,
along with the town of Moab, home to the famous slickrock trail and crazy
mountain bikers. The bikers will ride along narrow cliff edges and over
bare, steep rock. The bike footage in the IMAX movie "Everest" was filmed in
this region.

One of my favourite all-time shots. Here we see spires at arches with a lightning storm behind them. Above the storm is clear skies and you can see the stars of Sagittarius clearly above them. In the time exposure, the rocks are lit by the twilight. The sort of shot only film can get.
