Our hotel was next to the Tokyo Tower, a clone of the Eiffel Tower that
was built in the sixties. Most of the time we were in Tokyo it was
very hazy, but we had an almost clear day on our final day and went up
for photos, panoramas, and even the requisite glimpse of Fuji-San in the
distance. (Mt. Fuji wasn't as dramatic to me as people say. Perhaps I
am spoiled by Shasta and other western volcanic mountains.)
We also went up to the free observation tower at the Tokyo Metro Government
building, which is interesting in its own right for the architecture of its
twin towers.
The Tokyo tower was bright Japanese orange, and lit up at night. I also
shot a full 360 degree view of all of Tokyo from the tower, you can find
it on the
Japan Panorama Page.
