Melbourne

We gave Melbourne short shrift, having only a day there due to the decision to drive the Great Ocean Road and to reduce our itinerary by one day.

It's a very pleasant city, though we did not have good weather and that is the resident's favourite lament. People describe it as "liveable" and I understand why. Lots of really usable transit, lots of pleasant public spaces and parks, all sorts of interesting restaurants, cosmopolitan population and more. Tourists don't come here as much since it doesn't bustle with sites and museums the way Sydney does, but one can understand why many Australians decide to live there.
