Rainbow bridge from behind. OK, we broke the Navaho taboo, but the light was best from this side. On the right you see plaques to name the first white man to see the bridge and the native guides who led him. It was much harder to get to before they flooded the canyon.

Another nice shot of secret canyon.

Carved in the wall you can see the "miner's steps", leading up the rock. Miners chipped out footholds so they could climb up to mine sites.

A closer shot of the arch illusion.

One of a couple of shots of Kathryn at the wheel, going about 35MPH in our boat. Some lovely (if slightly blurry) red canyon walls at our right.

In this shot the wind blows her hair (it's a fast exposure) as we pass by more outcroppings.

We venture our boat into "secret canyon", a very narrow but still deep side canyon on Lake Powell. We don't have time to go all the way in but it gets narrow enough at some places you can almost touch both walls.

We go further into secret canyon. This was about as narrow as it got for us.

More lovely Lake Powell scenery.

This shot from the hill above the Marina offers an interesting optical illusion. It looks like there is a huge arch in the rock, but it's really a peninsula.
