A synthetic 360 degree view of Paris from the top of the Montparnasse Tower late in the day. Synthetic because one has to walk around the outside of the tower and not all of this is visible from one place. As a result there are various errors making it more suitable for zoom viewing than for printing.

Viaduc du Millau World's tallest bridge

On a hazy day, a shot of the modern Viaduc du Millau -- the world's tallest bridge -- that tower on the left is 1,125 feet high and the roadbed is 900 feet above the river (12th highest.) They didn't need to make it this high but it wasn't a lot more and it made a great showpiece.

From l'Aguille du Midi, near Mt. Blanc

This is a 360 degree view from the top of "L'Aguille du Midi" a peak right next to Mont Blanc, the highest peak in western Europe. Mt. Blanc is under the sun. There is a gondola up here -- the highest vertical ascent in the world. This is an "impossible" shot done by combining shots around the edge of the top observation platform -- you can't see this view from any publicly accessible spot.

Mount Blanc

This is a close up detail on the mountains near Mt. Blanc. I shot a few of these and was distressed to see after the fact that I had goofed them up in really stupid ways. An effect of being up at 3800 metres of altitude!
